What a smart home system controls
- Lighting: scenes like “Dinner” or “Movie”, schedules, and every light off from bed.
- Audio and video: music in any room, any TV source in any room, and one-button home theater.
- Climate and shades: thermostats and motorized shades on schedules or with the sun.
- Security: cameras, door locks, doorbell and alarm on the same screen.
- Away from home: check cameras, unlock for a delivery or turn the AC on from your phone.
Choosing a platform
All three are professional systems installed and programmed by a dealer, not boxes you set up from an app store. The right one depends on the size of the home, how much you want to control, and how you like to use it.

For lighting, we’re a certified Lutron and Converging Systems dealer (lighting control and LED lighting). A smart home also needs a solid network: we install Araknis, Access Networks and Cisco Meraki. We also program Crestron systems, and can take over an existing system another installer left behind.
How a project runs
- Walk-through. We visit, see the rooms and equipment, and talk through how you want it to work.
- Design and quote. A written plan listing every room, device and price.
- Prewire. For new builds and remodels, we run the right cable before the drywall goes up (prewire details).
- Install. Controllers, network, keypads, speakers, TVs and cameras go in.
- Programming. Scenes, schedules and button layouts set up to match how you live.
- Handoff. We show everyone in the house how to use it, and stay on call for changes.
