Control4 Lighting Systems & Lighting Panels

Control4 lighting puts every light in the home or building on the same app, touchscreens, remotes and voice control as your music, TVs, shades, climate and security. As an authorized Control4 dealer, we design, install and program Control4 keypads, dimmers and centralized lighting panels for homes and businesses across Orange County, Los Angeles and the Inland Empire.

What Control4 lighting does

  • Scenes: “Welcome home”, “Dinner”, “Movie” and “Goodnight” set lights, shades and music together with one button.
  • Everywhere control: keypads, Control4 touchscreens, Halo remotes, the Control4 app and voice assistants all run the same lights.
  • Schedules and sunset timing: exterior and landscape lights follow the sun; pathway lights come on at night.
  • Away and vacation modes: lights turn on and off like someone is home, and every light can go off from your phone.
  • Works with the whole system: lights dim when the movie starts, flash or turn on with a security alarm, and come on when the door station rings at night.
  • Color lighting too: pair with Converging Systems LED for color and tunable-white scenes on the same keypads.

Centralized lighting panels

With a centralized (panelized) system, the dimmers and switches move out of the walls into a lighting panel, usually in a utility room or equipment closet. Each module controls up to eight circuits, and the walls get slim keypads with engraved buttons instead of banks of switches.

Part What it does
Lighting panel A 2-slot or 5-slot enclosure that holds the lighting modules, with front access for testing and service.
Dimmer modules 8-channel adaptive phase dimmers for LED, incandescent, halogen and low-voltage lighting.
0-10V modules Dimming for commercial LED fixtures and drivers that use 0-10V control.
Relay modules On/off control for fans, motors, pumps, heaters and non-dimmable loads.
Wired keypads Engraved, backlit keypads in many button layouts and finishes, connected to the panel and the Control4 controller.

Why choose a lighting panel

  • Cleaner walls: one keypad in place of three to six switches, with no hot dimmers in the wall.
  • Reliability: wired keypads and centrally mounted modules, easy to test and service in one place.
  • Flexibility: any keypad button can control any light, and scenes change in programming, not with new wiring.
  • Commercial loads: 0-10V and relay modules handle offices, restaurants, retail and larger homes.

How a Control4 lighting project runs

  1. Walk-through. We map every light, switch and room, and how you want each space to feel.
  2. Lighting plan. Keypad locations, button engraving, scenes and the choice of wireless or panel, with one written price.
  3. Install. Keypads, dimmers or lighting panel and modules, connected to the Control4 controller.
  4. Program. Scenes, schedules, app and touchscreen layouts, voice control and links to shades, music and security.
  5. Fine-tune. We adjust levels and scenes after you have lived with them for a few weeks.

Questions we get asked

Can Control4 lighting go into an existing home?

Yes. Wireless keypad dimmers and switches replace your existing switches, usually without opening walls, and connect to the Control4 controller wirelessly.

What is a centralized lighting panel?

A panel that holds the dimmers and switches for many circuits in one place, so the walls only need slim keypads. It is the cleanest and most flexible option for new construction and large remodels.

Will my LED lights dim smoothly?

Control4 adaptive phase dimmers are designed for LED, incandescent, halogen and low-voltage loads, and 0-10V modules handle commercial LED fixtures. We match dimmers to your fixtures so they dim without flicker.

Do I need Control4 lighting, or will Lutron work?

Both are excellent. Control4 lighting keeps everything in one system and one app; Lutron also integrates with Control4. We will recommend one for your project.

Can I control the lights by voice?

Yes. Control4 works with popular voice assistants, so you can say “Movie time” or “Turn off all the lights”.
