Why installation matters for LPR
Plate reading depends on angle, distance, shutter speed and lighting more than on megapixels. A plate camera aimed like a regular camera usually records a blur. We pick the spot where cars slow down or stop, keep the camera angle shallow, zoom the varifocal lens so the plate fills enough of the frame, and tune exposure so headlights don’t wash plates out at night.
Good places for a plate camera
- Gated communities and HOA entrances
- Business and warehouse driveways
- Parking lots and garages
- Long residential driveways and private roads
- Car dealerships, repair shops and storage facilities
