Access Control & Video Door Stations

Let the right people in with a fob, a phone, a fingerprint or a code, and see and talk to everyone else from your phone before you open the door or the gate. We design and install access control and video door stations for homes, gated properties, offices, warehouses and multi-tenant buildings across Orange County, Los Angeles and the Inland Empire, with DoorBird, 2N, Control4 and LTS.

Ways to open the door

Cards and fobsRFID key fobs and cardsTap a fob or card on the reader. Each one can be limited to certain doors and hours, and switched off instantly if it is lost.
PhoneYour phone as the keyOpen with Bluetooth or NFC as you walk up, or tap unlock in the app from anywhere, for a delivery, a cleaner or a guest.
BiometricFingerprint and faceNothing to carry or lose. Readers store an encrypted template, not a picture of your fingerprint or face.
KeypadPIN codesPersonal or temporary codes for family, staff, vendors and contractors, with schedules and expiry dates.
Two-factorCard or phone plus PINFor server rooms, offices and storage, require two things before the door opens.
RemoteUnlock from anywhereSee who is at the door or gate on video, talk to them, and let them in from your phone, a touchscreen or the front desk.

Video door stations and intercoms

A video door station replaces the doorbell or the gate call box with an HD camera, a speaker and microphone, and a button, keypad or reader. When someone rings, your phone, Control4 touchscreens or front desk show live video so you can talk to them and open the door or gate, whether you are in the kitchen or across the country. Every ring and every entry is saved with a snapshot.

  • Front doors and entries: a stainless door station in place of the doorbell, with a fob reader or fingerprint sensor built in.
  • Gates and driveways: a call box at the gate with video, a keypad and a reader, connected to your gate operator.
  • Offices and lobbies: visitors call reception or a specific suite; staff badge in.
  • Multi-tenant buildings: a directory of residents or tenants, with each unit answering on their own phone.
  • Deliveries: open for a courier, watch the package go in, and lock again, all from the app.

Brands we install

Brand What it does best
DoorBird Stainless steel IP video door stations made in Germany, with HD video, night vision, two-way audio and the DoorBird app. Options include a built-in fingerprint sensor, RFID fob reader and keypad, plus integration with Control4.
2N Professional modular IP intercoms and access readers for homes, offices and apartment buildings. Mix modules for video, touch keypad, RFID cards (125 kHz and secure 13.56 MHz), Bluetooth phone access and fingerprint reading, with PIN codes as a second factor.
Control4 Brings the door into the smart home: the Chime video doorbell, video and intercom on Control4 touchscreens and the app, smart locks, garage and gate control, and scenes such as “lock up and arm” from one button.
LTS Access control panels for one to four doors and more, card and keypad readers, face recognition terminals, cards, fobs and Bluetooth phone credentials, alongside LTS cameras and recorders so every entry can be matched with video.
Other options We also integrate smart door locks, electric strikes and magnetic locks, gate operators and keypads, and cloud-managed systems for larger sites. Tell us what you have; we can often keep and connect it.

Safety and security, done right

  • People can always get out: locks are set up so the door opens freely from inside with a lever, push bar or exit button, and release automatically with the fire alarm where code requires.
  • Fail-safe or fail-secure, chosen per door: fail-safe locks unlock when power is lost (used where people must be able to get through); fail-secure locks stay locked (used for storage and outer doors with free exit).
  • Battery backup: the controller, readers and door stations keep working through power outages.
  • Credentials that can’t be copied easily: we recommend encrypted 13.56 MHz cards and fobs or phone credentials over older 125 kHz proximity fobs, which can be cloned.
  • Lost fob? Revoke it in seconds: remove a fob, code or phone from the app or software without changing a single lock.
  • Schedules and records: limit each person to the doors and hours they need, and keep a log of every entry, matched to camera video.
  • Biometric privacy: fingerprint and face readers store encrypted templates on the device, not photos, and can be limited to set days and times.
  • A protected network: door stations, readers and cameras go on their own secured network (see networking), with strong passwords and current firmware.
  • Licensed installation: California licensed contractor #909750, insured and bonded, with the door hardware, wiring and programming done by one team.

For homes

A video door station at the front door, a call box at the gate, fingerprint or phone entry so nobody hides a key under the mat, temporary codes for the housekeeper and dog walker, and an alert on your phone whenever someone comes or goes. With Control4, the door, lights, cameras and alarm work together.

For businesses

Badge access for staff, schedules that lock up automatically after hours, visitor calls to reception, and a record of every entry. Add cameras at each door with our LTS security cameras and license plate cameras at the gate, and manage it from one place.

How an access control project runs

  1. Site walk. We look at each door and gate, the door hardware, power, network and how people come and go.
  2. Design and quote. Readers, door stations, locks, controller and credentials for each door, with one written price.
  3. Install. Wiring, electric strikes or maglocks, exit devices, readers, door stations and gate connections.
  4. Program. Users, fobs, phones, fingerprints, schedules, and the app on your phones and touchscreens.
  5. Test and train. Every door tested, including power loss and fire alarm release, then we show you how to add and remove users.

Questions we get asked

Can I open my door or gate from my phone?

Yes. DoorBird, 2N, Control4 and LTS all offer phone apps. You see live video from the door station, talk to the visitor and unlock from anywhere, and many systems also open with Bluetooth as you walk up.

Are fingerprint readers safe and private?

They store an encrypted template, not an image of your fingerprint, and can be limited to certain days and times. For high-security doors, combine fingerprint or card with a PIN.

What happens if the power goes out?

We install battery backup for the controller, readers and door stations. Each lock is chosen to fail safe or fail secure depending on the door, and people can always exit from inside.

What if someone loses a fob?

Remove it from the system in seconds. No locks need to be changed, and the lost fob stops working immediately.

Can you add a video door station to my existing gate?

Usually, yes. We connect the door station or call box to your existing gate operator, and can add a keypad, fob reader and license plate camera.

Do you work on apartment and office buildings?

Yes. 2N and LTS systems scale to many doors and tenants, with a directory at the entry and each unit answering on their own phone.
